Sixth grade students of the Cordello Elementary School in Central Islip have entered their essays into The Ollie Mae Peterson Education & Community Service Scholarship contest. The students were to write from the topic: “What impact have I made in my home, school, or community.” Five educators from around the New York area with one former New Yorker who now resides in Georgia are the judges for the essays.  First place winner of the contest will receive a cash gift of $300.00, second place $200.00, and third place $100.00 to be used to help with school costs for the upcoming school year. All winners will be selected the third week of June. We congratulate all the contestants for the entries.
